Can Dogs Eat Jelly Beans?
Jelly beans are sugar-laden confections with no nutritional merit for dogs. The primary toxins of concern are xylitol, increasingly used in sugar-free jelly beans, which causes rapid hypoglycemic shock and liver failure. Even regular jelly beans can lead to gastrointestinal upset, pancreatitis, and severe dental decay. The hard outer shell can be a choking hazard for small breeds. While a single sugar-based bean may pass without incident, the risk of sweetener contamination makes all jelly beans a poor choice, and intentional feeding is strongly discouraged.
